From ''I don't sing'' to a video release in less than a year

Baiba was inspired by our member Dace, who participated in Laima Vaikule’s competition “Laima Voice”, and thought:
"If she can learn to sing, then I need to do it too."

Even before completing the one-year program, Baiba recorded a song in a studio, made a music video, wrote an original composition, and released it as a single.
Today, Baiba has left her regular job to focus on music full-time, has released a solo album, and performs live concerts.

Why Vocal Master?

Or that it simply isn’t good enough? We often hear this as the main reason why people believe it’s impossible to learn how to sing. The voice, perhaps, can be trained — but if there is no musical hearing, then there’s no point even trying. But in reality, it’s quite the opposite.

Musical hearing, just like singing, is a completely natural ability. It is like a muscle that anyone can develop!

How does it work?

The more you sing, listen, and make music, the better you will be able to orient yourself in the musical environment.

It’s similar to vision — by observing, exploring, watching, and analysing over time, you can train your visual perception to notice nuances, shapes, and shades of colour.
The same applies to hearing. It’s like a sport — continuous practice strengthens your hearing “muscles” and helps you understand musical nuances more deeply.

We all perceive music and sound, yet it is often difficult to navigate musical details, especially when we sing ourselves. This happens because we hear ourselves through both internal and external hearing at the same time. If we are unfamiliar with this process, it’s very easy to become confused and disoriented — and to automatically conclude:
“I don’t have musical hearing,”
“I don’t understand,”
“I can’t sing.”

But that is not true.

Muscles need time to develop

Just as our brains need time to create new neural connections that didn’t exist before. As the saying goes — you need to walk a new path until it forms 🙂

With time and focused training, your internal and external hearing will harmonise, and you will gain a much deeper understanding of your voice and musical abilities.
